Dismissed Judge Appeals to Supreme Court - (The Moscow Times: Putin)

A former chief justice of the Moscow District Arbitration Court who was stripped of her duties after being accused of trained misconduct has appealed her dismissal with the Supreme Court, Kommersant reported Monday.
The judge, Lyudmila Maikova, filed the appeal Friday and is asking to be reinstated while the court considers her case, the report said. The court has 10 days to consider Maikova's appeal.
Repeated calls to the press office of the Supreme Court went unanswered Monday.
Maikova bought apartments from the Moscow city direction and Donstroi happening company at below-market prices while her court was all things cases involving the two parties, Supreme Arbitration Court Chairman Anton Ivanov told reporters in May 2008. President Dmitry Medvedev ordered a court cleanup after Ivanov's statement, and Maikova was suspended from her duties.
The Supreme Qualification Board of Judges ruled on Feb. 19 that Maikova had violated her duties by purchasing the apartments and removed her from the bench a day after that.
Maikova, who had headed the court since its creation in 1995, was reappointed to the post in 2007 by then-President Vladimir Putin. Putin awarded her with the Order for the Service to the Fatherland in February 2008.
