Teddy Bears" Picnic at Tishinka
Head down to the Tishinka shopping center if you want to see more teddy bears and dolls in one room than you have ever seen before. A teddy bear and dolls congress takes over 1.5 square kilometers of the center until Sunday.
"The world of dolls and teddy bears has become very popular today as a hobby, accumulation and for art," said Alana Lenta, general director of the project.
More than 100 exhibitors will present their interpretations of the modern doll before an expected audience of about 10,000 visitors.
Among the highlights is the DOLLitory, where you can see and purchase off the peg dolls' clothes, fabric for doll-making, jewels, charms and even doll eyes. "We've got nice eyes, sad eyes and crazy eyes!" seller Nicole Duke said.
One stand to check out is Svetlana Gruzdova's, where smiling dolls sit about playing chess while pink elephants fly above. "It is a dream-world I found in my head, drawn from my childhood memories," Gruzdova explained.
Nearby, Kalya-Malya's stand has a two-headed doll where one head has a striking accord to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. There is also a show of teddy bears that look like their owners.
